The timber deck is supported on one side by timber poles which are located on soft soil.

Piles were installed beneath the poles to prevent settlement and around the poles retaining walls provide a useable space.

The deck is also supported on the house which was partially strengthened to support the additional lateral loads.

The deck provides a welcome addition to the living area at the same level.
