Maramanui Way – Retaining Wall Design

Fitting a swimming pool behind this house required a retaining wall 11m above the pool water level. The conditions of resource consent meant that a conventional approach of rock anchors couldn’t be used, so we designed a cantilever concrete wall.

Construction staging presented the biggest challenge on this project. Several stages of temporary works were necessary, and extensive safety barriers were erected below the area of works to prevent debris falling on the houses below.
